BerBer Lounge
We were delighted when our savvy, successful clients wanted to design a lounge for their popular downtown restaurant. When we toured the proposed space, we realized that we faced a few challenges.
The largest hurtle was the space itself. Located in the lower level of their restaurant, the space had previously housed an old bar. The ceiling height was not high and would be further compromised by the needed ductwork and plumbing. Much of brickwork was old and crumbly.
Another challenge was the need to have smaller, cozy spaces that could open into larger areas for bigger events. This issue was easily solved by using folding decorative screens that divided the spaces, butcould be folded back for larger crowds.
The clients had a vision of a themed space based on the Berbers of North Africa, complete with handmade furnishings and decorative panels imported from Morocco. Those decorative panels were used to cover come of the aging brick walls and the needed ductwork and plumbing was strategically placed to maintain as much ceiling height was possible.
The clients choice of exquisite handmade original furniture and lighting, helped to make the finished place a vision to behold. If you are visiting Toronto, be sure to put the Berber Lounge on your list of places to visit at 49 Front St. The food, service, ambiance and entertainment are exceptional.
